Collections
The museum’s collections comprise 12 sub-collections, the most extensive being the glass and ethnography sub-collections. However, other sub-collections are equally important and contain many interesting exhibits covering archaeology, jewellery, militaria, paintings, sculptures, natural history, textiles, photographs and postcards. Collections at the Železný Brod Municipal Museum
Archeology
The archaeological sub-collection comes from the historical collections of the museum. Its core consists of the remnants of amateur archaeological activities of the owner of the Návarov estate Ing. Vilém Vaníček.
Jewellery
The jewellery sub-collection focuses mainly on documenting the jewellery production in Železný Brod and its immediate surroundings. It is closely related to the glass sub-collection, which it complements and sometimes intertwines.
Ethnography
Thanks to its composition, the ethnography sub-collection is the most diverse sub-collection of the Municipal Museum. It was created by merging several separate units during the reorganisation of the collection at the end of the 1960s.
Militaria
The sub-collection of militaria contains both cutlery and firearms, mainly from the 19th century. A large part of the sub-collection consists of military armour mainly from the second half of the 19th century.
Numismatics
The numismatic sub-collection contains circulation and commemorative coins from the period of the Austrian monarchy (goldsmith's and crown currency), the First Republic and the post-war period. The sub-collection also includes commemorative coins and medals.
Paintings
The sub-collection of paintings includes works by folk and professional painters from the first half of the 17th century to the present day. It includes paintings, prints and underpaintings on glass.
Sculpture
The sculpture sub-collection is the smallest group of the collection and contains sculptures and sculptures made of various types of material.
Natural Resources
The sub-collection of natural resources contains mainly minerals from Kozákov, Nová Paka, Smržovka, Příchovice, Štípek and other localities.
Glass
The glass sub-collection documents glass production in the Železný Brod region. The most significant parts of the sub-collection are the units representing the production of the Železný Brod glass school, interwar producers and the national enterprise Železnobrodské sklo.
Textiles
The sub-collection of textiles includes parts of folk costume, clothing accessories and common household textiles. The sub-collection also includes uniforms and their components.
Photography
The photographic sub-collection contains photographs and negatives that are thematically and proveniencially related to Železný Brod and its immediate surroundings. It also contains the production of Železný Brod photo studios.
Postcards
The postcards sub-collection contains postcards related to the Železnobrod region. It also includes the production of local publishers.
